So I've decided to share my new discovery! you guys will love it!
okay. you ready?? it's a big one.

Okay. My new discovery and some might say life philosophy is this:
All of life's problems can be answered through a Disney movie.

Now, I don't mean Disney as in "High School Musical" or "Freaky Friday" (all though they have some good "suggestions"). I mean the cartoons! :D
Here are some examples:

Mulan--
Problem: conformity
Solution: according to "Mulan" it's okay to be an individual even if your "world" says it's not.

The Little Mermaid--
Problem: Falling in love with the "wrong" person
Solution: Do whatever it takes to be with Love. your family will still love you.

The Lion King--
Problem: Guilt over something that isn't your fault
Solution: Find supportive friends who bring out the best in you

Hercules--
Problem: Finding your place in the world
Solution: Find someone who believes in you and you will be the person you want to be.

Cinderella--
Problem: Trapped as a prisoner in your own home
Solution: Channel your fairy godmother to help you find your confidence and then your prince.


Some of these are a slight stretch but you see my point.
Believe this "theory" or not, but Disney movies mean the world to me because if finding comfort in Disney movies is wrong, then I don't want to be right (yes, i'm full of cheese. :D)!

Now my challenge to you is to think about your favorite Disney movie. Why is it your favorite? Consciously or not, Disney movies can put a persons mind at ease for an hour or so. That is a great thing.

So I desperately wish I had my camera handy (and a way to keep it safe) today because today was the first of what I'm sure will be many day of running through the sprinkler! HILARIOUS!!! It has been YEARS since I've done that and even longer since I've done it with a 3 yr old! FUNNIEST THING EVER! especially how it started! Connor is an adorable kid, but kind of a scared-y cat. He doesn't like water very much but today he asked if he could "wash my feet" in the sprinkler. Weird, yes, but hilarious as well. So I said why not? its 3000 degrees outside and I don't want you to dehydrate so, sure. So I got the sprinkler (a garden kind that rotates 360 degrees) and turned it on decently high and he was just sitting behind it (cuz i turned off the rotating part) and put his feet in. When he stood up, he fell over into the water and I was thinking "ah man! tears!" I got up to go help but then he stood back up and he was laughing! He thought it was hilarious! So he was jumping in and out of the stationary part and I decided to turn the rotating part on. 45 minutes and 2 outfits (his and mine) COMPLTELY drenched later, we went inside (where the tears started b/c he didn't want to stop) and changed outfits and have been having a normal day (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show, PB & J w/ yogurt, carrots, milk and half a nectarine lunch, and currently nap) ever since.

Oh how I wish I had my camera...

Movies (new (and new to me)) seen this last week or so and my personal reaction to them:

1) Sex and the City:
-THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE! I couldn't have pictured a better ending for our beloved women. Slightly cheesy at times, but overall enjoyable. I laughed, I cried, I left happy. :D
2) Indiana Jones and the crystal skull (or something):
-Enjoyable. I had a blast throughout the whole movie...except the last 15 minutes...I mean what? seriously!!?? (sorry if you still want to see it, but its my blog I can say what I want!) A frickin UFO comes busting out of an ancient Incan ruin! What the HELL!!! But really good until then!
3) Dr. Zhivago:
-Really long. But I definitely liked it. Not my favorite off the top 100 list, but understood it and enjoyed it! Won't watch it again though...too long!
4) Shane:
-Not a big fan of Westerns but, it was pretty good. Loved the story line! And the little boy was very adorable. I loved the ending therefore, tied the whole thing to greatness. :D
5) The Network:
-All I have to say about this one is: OH MY GOSH! I really REALLY loved this one! It is just so amazing! The acting, the script, the story...just amazing. Wow.
6) Ben-Hur:
-Long. REALLY REALLY Long! Good. Enjoyed. But LONG. :D again, understood the list, but never (well maybe not NEVER) again.
7) The African Queen:
-So freaking GOOD!!! Amazing! K. Hepburn and H. Bogart were FANTASTIC! Just great chemistry, great script, hilarious cinematography (still good considering..), and wonderful story. Definitely in my top 10 off the top 100! Truly fantastic!

I LOVE MOVIES!!!!!!!!!! The "old" movies I've also watched in this last week plus some: Moulin Rouge, Save the Last Dance, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and One Fine Day. Man I love those movies...

Okay, I'm done! :D

I hate effin' essays that are stupid! stupid prompt, stupid writers block, and now...hilarious moulin rouge...

okay...this post is going to be an experiment. I'm attempting to get over writers block by writing what I want to write in a completely different way...a blog post instead of an essay. Here it goes!

The chapter called "The Importance of Choosing A Life Philosophy" has 3 viewpoints from 3 different authors all varying in their opinion of what the importance of a life philosophy is and how to go about achieving a personal philosophy. The authors of the opposing viewpoints are M. Scott Peck ("Choosing a Map for Life"), Plato ("Are We Living in a Cave?"), and Sam Keen and Anne Valley-Fox ("Discovering Our Personal Myth"). The chapter called "What Gives Life Ultimate Meaning" has 5 viewpoints form 5 opposing authors. No matter how different or similar these 5 author's opinions are, they all agree that finding what gives life meaning is a personal discovery. They have their opinions on what will help someone find it, but it is your responsibility to find out what gives your life meaning. The authors in this chapter are Richard Robinson ("Life Has No Purpose-We Create It"), Charles W. Colson ("Finding Personal Peace with God Gives Life Purpose"), Riane Eisler ("Ecofeminism Gives Life Purpose"), Emil Brunner ("God's Creation of Everything Gives Life Purpose"), and Brooke Medicine Eagle ("The Great Spirit Within Us Gives Life Purpose"). This paper will discuss the similarities and differences between the many opinions of these extremely educated authors.



Okay...thats a decent beginning and I still have A LOT of work to do but that helped...
